Choosing a Dealer
Once you have all the facts about the features and type of booth you need, you're ready to start talking to potential suppliers. It's important to consider the source of the booth as well as the characteristics of the booth itself – here are few things to consider.
Spray booths are sometimes sold directly by manufacturers, as well as through independent dealers. Neither is inherently better, as long as you're aware of their strengths and weaknesses. Manufacturers may be able to offer more flexible pricing and quicker turnaround times, while local dealers can be more responsive if questions arise.
More important to your decision is how the installation will be handled. Get a detailed description of the installation will proceed from each vendor. Some do little more than delivering the parts and directions, while others will construct the entire booth for you.
The amount of installation help can have a big impact on cost, so if you have engineers or maintenance personnel who can handle the construction and wiring, you may be able to save some money. On the other hand, more complex booths that include air makeup units or ventilation pits usually require trained installers.
Safety matters
Reputable paint booth dealers will make sure that your installation meets all federal and local safety regulations. Ask before they start work what standards they have to comply with, and how they will meet those standards.
Watch out for vendors who cut corners on safety measures. While fire suppression systems are expensive, if you ever need them, the cost is insignificant compared to the safety of your employees.
